Approach
Your narrative, your experience and your goals guide our work together. I will help you clarify what you seek, and help you make use of your own internal strengths to reach your therapeutic goals. No judgment, no pressure. Honest feedback and unconditional positive regard.
Providing you with a safe space to explore
Your appointments take place in my private office filled with artwork, comfortable seating, and a calm creative energy. I am always happy to share a cup of tea with you.
The space is a residential studio with a private entrance and no waiting room. You may park on the street or in the driveway.
Please note that the office is located upstairs, and there is no elevator.
In-person and remote options
My office is conveniently located in Northwest Crossing in Bend, Oregon. If you experience mobility limitations (the office is on the second floor and has no elevator), or if you are unable to meet me at my office for any other reason, teletherapy is an option.
Whether you seek short-term intervention or you embark on a longer term therapeutic journey, I am looking forward to supporting your work towards your goals.
I have extensive experience working with:
· Adolescents and Adults
· Veterans
· Complex post-traumatic stress
· Addiction
· Bereavement (especially for loved ones who died by suicide)
· Transitions (marriage, divorce, immigration, post-partum, retirement)
· Existential angst
Success in counseling most often rests on the strength of the therapeutic relationship.
Trust and a genuine personal connection between you and your counselor are an important aspect of your therapeutic progress.
To help you evaluate our fit, I offer free initial consultations in person, over the phone or video chat.
Education & Experience
I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, and Somatic Psychology from the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute (part of the Chicago School of Professional Psychology).
I was trained in a variety of counseling theories and approaches, and learned about human growth and development, group dynamics, social and cultural foundations, and transpersonal and existential therapy approaches. Particular emphasis was placed on working with the whole person and paying attention to the client’s body, breath, and energy. I have also learned research methodology and study design, and statistical evaluation of data.
I am fluent in German and Russian.
I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), and received my high school diploma in San Francisco, CA at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts (magnet high school).
After graduating from UCSB, I worked at a psychiatrist’s office in Santa Barbara, CA and transitioned to medical billing as I started my graduate studies at the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute.
My clinical work began as a residential counselor at a crisis shelter serving youth of all genders ages 11-18 and their families. I became an administrator and counselor for individual adults and adolescents, couples and families after a couple of years at the residential facility. I continued working with adolescents in foster care, and adult survivors of abuse and trauma, many of them coping through drug abuse or disordered eating for years afterwards.
In 2023, I completed my training and was licensed as a psilocybin facilitator in Oregon. If you want to learn more about it, please visit my website for those services. I wrote, illustrated and published a book about that work in 2024 called “In Lucid Color: Witnessing Psilocybin Journeys.” It is available on Amazon.
Fees
$200/hour (60 min). Discounts for services are offered on a sliding scale based on need.
I do not have contracts with any health insurance companies, and only accept direct payments for services (cash, check, Venmo, Zelle, and ACH transfers). While health insurance coverage undoubtedly helps with the financial burden of counseling, there are also advantages to hiring a counselor without involving your insurance.
Some of the advantages of not billing insurance for counseling include not needing approval of services based on a diagnosis, and not having insurance audits reviewing your progress notes (payer has the right to auditing files).
If my hourly fee is prohibitive for you, and you would otherwise really like to work with me, please reach out and let me know your situation. I make accommodations for my clients’ needs when possible.
